Access in the Emerald Isle… courtesy of Salto

Hotel security systems installations are normally based on a secure locking origination that requires flexible time limited access. In practice, this means that hotel guests usually stay for short periods of time, after which their access authorisation is automatically withdrawn from the room lock. This process is usually controlled via specialist front desk software.

The locks are networked to the hotel computer, yet need no hard wiring or Wi-Fi infrastructure. Both the key card and the lock have a built-in antenna which then performs simultaneous two-way communication. This will then open a given guest’s room, while also permitting access to other secured hotel facilities such as the swimming pool, the health club and the gym, etc. Salto Systems’ Comfort range locks have been fitted to 137 guest bedrooms, in addition to a variety of back-of-house rooms. Each lock can support anything up to 64,000 users, with an audit trail of the past 1,000 access events stored in the Read/Write escutcheon.

The locks also feature anti-vandal protection.
