The DIU 220 is being marketed as a low cost solution that can reliably power a complete door set via one category 5/6 cable. Despite being described as the ‘complete IP solution’, the system is said to be easily installed by IT network and security installers, without the need for an electrician.
CEM, who provide the industry with customised security management solutions, believe that the DIU 220 will improve door security by allowing the installer to locate lock controls on the secure side of a door, with an intelligent reader on the unsecured side. In addition, the Power over Ethernet capability should eliminate any requirements for mains power at the door.
Including an In reader, Out reader and a standard 650mA maglock, the DIU 220 system communicates with a CEM reader over a single pair RS485 cable. Upon a valid swipe at the card reader, the reader will instruct the DIU 220 to activate the appropriate output to release the lock using a coded data signal.
New features include fire alarm and break glass inputs for emergency door release and a Weigand interface allowing a 3rd party exit head to be directly connected. Unavailable as a board-only version, the DIU 220 is supplied in a plastic enclosure with transparent lid to view LED status for fault diagnosis.
