Installed by local partner Capital Technology WLL, the open-architecture solution at DIA is integrated across the airport’s LAN using IndigoVision’s Control Center management software.
This software is said to be able to consolidate alarms from an integrated IP-Security system. Control Center can interface access control, intruder security and plant alarms, as well as building management alarms. IndigoVision have also manufactured an IP-Alarm panel unit that allows hardwired I/O to be interfaced onto the IP network.
Control Center should allow operators to monitor live video feeds and recorded footage from Network Video Recorders. Status information and alarms from the Access Control system should also be visible to operators, and events within Control Center are generated and logged for card swipes, illegal access and tamper detection.
IndigoVision, with its headquarters in Edinburgh, have worked on similar projects before. A recent project on Vancouver’s Skytrain integrated 880 cameras.
Sourav Sinha, Head of the IT Department at Qatar Airways said he was pleased with the installation:
“We were particularly impressed with IndigoVision’s ability to deliver very high quality video with minimal bandwidth, its integration with the Access Control and alarm systems and the powerful features of the video management software.”
In 2003 the Government of the State of Qatar announced a plan for a new Doha International Airport to be built to the east of the current airport. Work on the $2 billion project is expected to be completed in 2015.
