100 firefighters battle fire at major refurb building – PICTURE

Around 100 firefighters fought a serious fire at a ten-storey building under refurbishment in the centre of London yesterday.

The fire affected the roof, damaging three quarters of it. Approximately 20 firefighters are still at the scene, more than 24 hours after the fire started.

The blaze, at a building on London’s Strand, was mostly under control by 6.30 pm (14 June).

The cause of the fire is not known at this stage.
