Fire forces evacuation at Aviva insurance site

Staff at insurance company Aviva were evacuated after a fire broke out at the company’s site in Perth.

Crews from Tayside Fire and Rescue was called to the incident just after 3.30pm on 7 August. When they arrived at the scene they found heavy smoke-logging on one of the floors in the company’s main building. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus were able to contain the fire to the room of origin and quickly extinguished the blaze.

All of the building’s occupants had been evacuated prior to the fire service’s arrival.

An appliance with ventilation fans was also deployed to help crews ventilate the building.
