The fire safety community gathered last night to celebrate the best in products, systems, fire prevention and firefighting at a glittering awards ceremony in Birmingham. The awards dinner was hosted by ITV sports presenter Steve Rider and was followed by a charity casino.
The winners of the 2009 awards are:
– FIA Product Innovation: Tyco Safety Products, FlameVision
– FIA Export Innovation: D-Tec, VSD for tunnel fire safety
– Fire Safety Installer – Active: Hall Fire Protection
– Fire Safety Installer – Passive: Fire Protection
– FSE Fire Safety Engineering: Arup Fire – Heron Tower
– FSE Project Design: ADT Fire and Security – Belfast Odeon
– Individual Contribution to Community Fire Safety: Kevin Wilkie, Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service
– Team Contribution to Community Fire Safety: Community Fire Safety Department, Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service
– Outstanding Action, Civilian: Ben Woodhead and Darren Jeffery
– Outstanding Action, Fire & Rescue Service: Blue Watch, Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service.
In addition, a Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Philip Field of BRE Global for his work in managing and promoting the testing and certification of fire safety products and services.

This year’s winners are truly deserving of their acclaim.”
The Fire Excellence Awards are run in association with the Fire Industry Association and are part of the Fire & Rescue and International Firex events. They are also supported by the Chief Fire Officers Association, the Institution of Fire Engineers and the Fire Protection Association.
