The London Fire Brigade, fresh from protecting the London 2012 Olympics, is preparing to host the World Rescue Challenge, describing it as the ‘firefighter Olympics’.
Hundreds of firefighters from around the world are preparing to gather at the ExCeL in London, one of the Olympic venues, to compete for awards including the fittest firefighter competition.
Teams of firefighters will also compete to find the world’s top rescuers. Crews will compete to rescue people from crashed cars the fastest; perform first aid on accident victims in the most effective way and rescue a water-borne parachutist.
The event takes place from Thursday 18 October – 20 October and entry is free.
