IFSEC International Marks International Women’s Day With Announcement of Stellar Security Panel

IFSEC marks international womens dayDr Alison Wakefield and former Security Institute chairman Emma Shaw are set to speak about their success as women in the security industry at IFSEC International in June.

ASIS, the international organisation for security professionals, will hold a workshop on the same topic on Wednesday morning.

Making the announcement on International Women’s Day IFSEC International says Dr Wakefield and Emma Shaw will form part of a panel discussing ‘Inspirational Women in Security’, which will take place on Wednesday afternoon – day two of the three-day event.

The panel of high-achieving women in the security industry will share:

  • How they’ve achieved success in their career
  • The challenges they’ve faced and overcome along the way
  • Their advice for other women in the security industry or those with aspirations to start a career in the sector

The speakers in full:

  • Dr Alison Wakefield FSyl, Senior Lecturer in Security Risk Management, University of Portsmouth/Vice Chairman, Security Institute
  • Emma Shaw MBA CSyP FSyl FCMI, Managing Director, Esoteric Ltd.
  • Jayne King, Head of Security, Portering & Reception Services, Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust and Chair, National Association of Healthcare Security
  • Pauline Nortstrom, CEO, AD Group
  • Lynn Watts-Plumpkin, Director and General Manager, IQ Verify Ltd

On Thursday 23 June, between 1.30pm-2.45pm, Safety and Health Expo – which is co-located with IFSEC as part of the Protection & Management Series – will again provide a platform for businesses and associations promote their women’s networks as part of the #SHE100 campaign. Smarter Networking CEO Heather White will also deliver a presentation on networking, followed by complimentary prosecco and cupcakes and an opportunity for delegates to practice their improved networking skills.
