Samsung launches IP network training course for installers

The language of IT personnel and what questions to ask them at the system design stage will be among the subjects addressed by the certificated course.

Attendees will also learn about such diverse issues such as VLANs, router protocols, IP addressing, subnets and port address translation, as well as being provided with an overview of the technology and functionality incorporated into the latest generation of Samsung network cameras, encoders, recorders and storage devices, according to Samsung.

“Until recently video over IP was only perceived as a solution for large projects but we are now seeing the technology increasingly utilised in small to medium sized installations,” said James Smith, European marketing manager, for Samsung Techwin Europe Ltd.

“With the bolstering of our range of IP network video surveillance products and the recent introduction of infrastructure products, such as network switches to our portfolio, the timing is absolutely right for Samsung to offer training courses for security sales professionals and technicians to give them the confidence to recommend, design and install an IP network based video surveillance system.

“As a major stakeholder in the video surveillance industry, we are pleased to have this opportunity to share our knowledge and expertise in respect of IP network solutions and technologies with our existing and potential customers,” Smith said.

The first of the free two-day training courses will take place at Samsung’s European head office in Chertsey at the end of the month with more courses planned during the remainder of 2011 and beyond.
