The Cyprus Sports Organisation commissioned the system as part of an upgrade of protective measures at other similar venues on the island, to combat incidents of violence and vandalism. The move has also had another positive benefit: the stadium recently gained UEFA approval to host European matches, thanks in part to its security measures.
The system comprises a range of Ganz equipment, including internal and external dome cameras, DVRs, matrix and telemetry controllers, and monitor screens. A new control room has been constructed to operate the system.
