Rocksure’s Peoplesafe service is affording Davies Enforcement a total solutions package that encompasses not just the Peoplesafe device but also operator response, tracking, training, configuration, monitoring and ongoing technical support.
Davies Enforcement also wants to use Peoplesafe to help enhance the company’s standing and corroborate the actions of its bailiffs in the event of a query from a client.
Debt collection and recovery services
Established in 1998 to provide professional and ethical debt collection and recovery services to the public sector and commercial organisations, Davies Enforcement’s bailiffs work to a Code of Conduct that’s resolute about service, not just recovery rates.
A company focused on providing high-calibre management through the intelligent use of new technology, Davies Enforcement’s management were quick to recognise the overall benefits that the Peoplesafe service would provide.
“Not only does Peoplesafe enable our bailiffs to manage their own safety but, in an industry that has a reputation for sometimes being less than scrupulous, the ID badge gives our bailiffs status as it immediately identifies who they are and the purpose of their visit,” opined Simon Melluish, director of operations at Davies Enforcement.
“The tracking capability included in the Peoplesafe service also enables us to call up records and provide accurate information to our clients regarding a specific visit made by a bailiff.”
Six-month trial period proves a success
Davies Enforcement selected the Peoplesafe service following a six-month trial by three of the company’s bailiffs. Although initially there were a few false alarms with staff pushing the red alert button, these were quickly dealt with by Rocksure’s dedicated Monitoring Centre staff. Rocksure Systems also provided the company with detailed weekly reports on connectivity and usage, etc which added to the trial’s success.
Staff trialling the Peoplesafe service were very positive, making particular reference to the fact that when they were entering a potentially hazardous situation and pressed the device’s ‘checking in’ button, it provided them with reassurance knowing that they were being monitored.
If the wearer then has cause to press the red alert, operators at Rocksure’s remote Monitoring Centre retrieve the information on their locality, listen-in on the line to what is happening and co-ordinate the appropriate emergency support – involving the police service if necessary. Now, 38 bailiffs are using the Peoplesafe service on a daily basis.
Families have peace of mind
“Our bailiffs feel the benefit of this support, and find using the Peoplesafe service reassuring when on duty”, concluded Melluish. “They have commented that it also provides their families with peace of mind knowing they now have the technology to covertly summon assistance if faced with a potentially difficult situation.”
Thousands of lone workers are using the Peoplesafe service across the UK in a diverse range of organisations that includes the NHS, commercial companies, local authorities, housing associations and charities. The service is suitable for anyone working remotely from their office base and facing potential safety risks during the course of their normal working day.
Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
Peoplesafe enables employers to meet the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, which specifies that employers must identify potential hazards, assess the risks involved and put measures in place to avoid or control the risks associated with lone workers.
