American Dynamics, part of Tyco Security Products, has announced the launch of its new Illustra 600 Series of High Definition (HD) IP cameras.
Models in the Illustra 600 Series are said to represent “an excellent choice” for applications requiring “exceptional HD video quality in all lighting conditions”. According to the manufacturer, security integrators are choosing Illustra 600 mini domes over other brands thanks to the free auto-configuration software included with the cameras and the hands-free, remote auto-focus and zoom capability.
Banking and retail security professionals are particularly interested in the Illustra 600 IP cameras due to their “unique facial detection capability” – the ability to automatically detect faces in a live scene and improve the image quality around the face while conserving bandwidth in the rest of the scene.
“Capturing quality facial images is important, particularly in businesses that are monitoring places like cash registers, entrances and teller lines,” said Steve Carney, senior product manager for IP cameras.
“Unlike other cameras on the market, the Illustra 600 has the ability to detect a face and increase the bit rate around it without cropping out important background images. This unique handling of ‘regions of interest’ allows the cameras to save on bandwidth and storage costs.”
Auto-focus feature in detail
The auto-focus feature allows users to control the image and immediately focus on the area required without having to go to the site of the camera, stand on a ladder or open the housing of the camera.
This saves security integrators time and money on every job and is easily done with the click of a mouse.
In addition, the outdoor camera has a Theia wide angle lens option that provides ultra clear views and avoids ‘barrel-distortion’ (notably at the farther angles of an image where events can easily take place).
The Illustra 600 Series cameras are compatible with American Dynamics’ VideoEdge NVR v4.01 and HDVR and are ONVIF-compliant, providing customers with greater flexibility in their choice of recording platforms.
In addition, the new cameras are available with clear and tinted bubble IP 67-rated outdoor vandal-resistant mini-dome form factors and may be sourced through American Dynamics’ worldwide distribution channels.
