Today, Avigilon announced what they claim to be the world’s smallest HD Dome Camera, signalling a move to target the budget-conscious SME, and those who have been holding back from migrating to IP technology.
The camera is about the size of a golf ball, and utilises a patent-pending ‘smart cable’ design, meaning the whole unit has a combined weight of just 70g. The camera itself is about 1 inch x 2 inches in size, and is available with a 1MP or 2MP image sensor.
Rick Ramsay, senior product manager at Avigilon, said in a statement:
Stores, hotels, office buildings and restaurants want discreet cameras that provide exceptional image detail. Traditionally, you could get one or the other. Now with our HD Micro Dome, you get both. With this introduction, small and medium-sized businesses can easily transition from analog to HD surveillance.
The camera has a maximum frame rate of 30fps, is IP66 rated and ONVIF compliant. IFSEC Global is very excited to have had a world exclusive hands-on with the camera already, the review of the Avigilon 2.0-H3M-DO1 is available here.
You’ll be able to see this brand new camera in action, of course, at IFSEC International, on May 13-16. Register for IFSEC now if you haven’t already.
