“The Virtual Police of Alcorcon” is an intelligent video analytics system from ioimage.
Without human intervention, it automatically identifies suspects, zooms in on and tracks people and vehicles.
Law enforcement groups in the city near Madrid decided that intelligent automation was needed to handle “the reams of video footage” generated by cameras covering 33 square kilometers.
Now the upgraded system has considerably increased detection of vandalism and violence and also reduced the manpower required to constantly monitor the screens.
Automatic PTZ tracking is being used in cameras to track people and vehicles.
The system automatically identifies, zooms-in on and tracks people and vehicles without the intervention of human operators, and without relying on additional cameras.
Video analytics enables cameras to identify “suspicious activities” and then give an alert along with visual verification to human operators, allowing them to make an informed decision.
Oscar Romero, security division manager for system provider BFi Optilas, said the ioimage technology was simple to install and maintain, and it could “easily upgrade standard surveillance cameras to intelligent cameras”.
