Preview: IFSEC Southeast Asia 2013

IFSEC Southeast Asia is the largest government and commercial security, safety, and fire protection exhibition in the region.

Next week’s show, set to host more than 6,000 delegates, takes place from Wednesday, September 11, to Friday, September 13, when more than 250 exhibitors from 23 countries are set to converge on the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. This year’s show has a theme of 21st century technology for state-of-the art-security, and is also taking place alongside the International Security Technology Conference and CyberSec Asia.

Purportedly the world’s smallest HD bullet-style surveillance camera, the Axis M2014-E will be launching in the region. The compact camera is best suited to indoor and semi-outdoor environments, meaning it may be exposed to some water or rain.

Singapore-based Paclin will be exhibiting the Enduro+ single-sided access card printer. The Enduro+ will encode magnetic strip and smart cards, and can be easily upgraded to a double-sided printer with an upgrade.

Spanish door entry manufacturer Golmar will be launching the new M700 monitor, a 7-inch IP video monitor for the Golmar IP video intercom system. As it’s an IP-based system, the M700 monitor can be updated in the future.

Malaysian distributor Sensorlink will be showing its latest product, the Arecont Vision SurroundVideo 180-degree panoramic camera at this year’s IFSEC SEA event. We recently reviewed this camera, and you can see that review here.

International Security Technology Conference

Highlights of the two-day conference include a keynote speech from the Inspector General of the Royal Malaysia Police, Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar, and an address from the president of the Asian Professional Security Association (APSA), Sri Haji Mustapa B. Haji Ali.

There will be presentations covering PSIM, the future of megapixel video surveillance, biometrics, and remote guarding.

CyberSec Asia

The Chief Security Officer of Microsoft Asia, and Symantec’s Website Security Solutions Director for Southeast Asia will be among those discussing cybercrime effectiveness in the region as part of CyberSec Asia 2013 which is being incorporated into IFSEC SEA 2013.

Regional pavilions

IFSEC Southeast Asia will also feature several national pavilions from the United Kingdom, Taiwan, China, Korea, and Singapore. The BSIA will be hosting the UK pavilion, with members of the association alongside them.
