I4S video: Education at IFSEC 2012 – David Evans (Global Aware International)

David Evans’ distinguished career in the professional security arena is characterised by 30 years’ experience of counter-terrorism ‘policing’ across London where he has focused on aviation and maritime security, protection for special events, royalty and diplomats, territorial/public order and tactical firearms operations, explosives search, risk assessment and training (to ACPO level).

Global Aware International – of which David is CEO – exists to provide corporations with customised, comprehensive software/IT solutions, bespoke ‘dynamic awareness’ training, strategy input and associated tools and specialist techniques all aimed at assisting responses to security threats (including terrorism) and crisis situations.

The organisation has grown to enjoy a footprint that now spans over 100 countries, largely driven by products including the popular GIIRP (Global Integrated Incident Response Plan), TravAware (a personal safety system solution for staff who are travelling) and The Grab Box Series (which is solely focused on pre-prepared incident management equipment).

Carbon Cost of Crime and Security

At IFSEC International 2012, David – who’s also a leading light in the TINYg* set-up – is due to speak in the Security Management Education Theatre. This session of conference runs in Hall 3a at the NEC between 2.00 pm and 3.00 pm on Tuesday 15 May under the banner ‘The Carbon Cost of Crime and Security’ and also features a presentation from Chris Carpenter, security risk and technology manager at security solutions concern Wilson James.

In this exclusive video interview with Info4Security, David explains in some detail how the environmentally-friendly Control Room is structured to reduce costs.

Decreases in carbon footprint are high on the agenda for all responsible organisations just now, of course, but how can this be achieved in the Security Control Room environment?

Evans also addresses this issue, as well as the key points to note in terms of regulatory compliance and management as they relate to software ‘backbones’.

Further, David offers his views on the concept of ‘best value’ – frequently discussed in the business world, and notably in times of fiscal austerity – for the end user organisation.
