We all know how the global recession of 2008 left economies around the world reeling, with rises in unemployment and negative growth.
The impact on the UK economy was severe, and now company data website Duedil has produced an incredible visualisation of the tangible effect that the recession had on company closures.
Using data from Companies House, Duedil have produced a video (below) showing the huge increase in company closures during the recession.
Analysis showed that some of the key security industries – IT, construction and electronics – all showed negative growth in 2009, the year in which the recession’s affects were felt the hardest.
In December 2008 alone, over 90,000 UK companies closed their doors for the last time.
