Advance Security takes Inspiration in HR honours

Service sectors rely on teams of people across a number of environments, from customer-focused settings to those that require an in-depth knowledge of technology. For their part, Human Resources (HR) professionals play a key role in the selection, training and monitoring of thousands of individuals across these different spheres.

Sponsored by security recruitment specialist SSR Personnel Services, the Inspiration in HR Award is designed to recognise the pivotal role that HR plays in the security profession, and seeks to spotlight those that have made a significant impact in the area of HR management.

Security is a ‘people business’

Speaking about the award (which is made every year at the BSIA Annual Luncheon), SSR director Del Hunter told info4security.com: “The security profession is undoubtedly a people business and, in talking to many of the practitioners assembled at The Hilton Hotel today, our business leaders undoubtedly recognise this. It’s also significant that the new chairman of the BSIA, Stuart Lowden, has been a keen advocate of HR Best Practice and determined to seek proactive solutions for HR issues.”

Hunter continued: “With the changing economic landscape, the need to recognise and retain talent is crucial and the HR role is the specialist function that delivers this to our bottom line. The Inspiration in HR Award is the security profession’s opportunity to recognise the invaluable role played by HR specialists in supporting and taking a lead in sustaining our businesses.”

Hunter reported that the number of entrants has more than doubled, with their focus on crucial skills.

This year’s Judges were drawn from across the profession for their broad-based expertise, and included Security Management Today’s Editor Brian Sims. The Judging Panel shortlisted five nominations: ADT Fire and Security, Advance Security (UK), MITIE Security, Securitas Mobile and Chubb.

Strong emphasis on workforce motivation

Speaking about his company’s triumph, Richard Bailey – managing director at Advance Security – commented: “We are proud that our commitment towards HR has been recognised with this award. At Advance, we place a strong emphasis on the welfare and motivation of our entire workforce. Through the continual assessment of our policies and procedures, we provide an unrivalled approach to innovation and a genuinely healthy attitude towards employee welfare and professional fulfilment.”

Bailey added: “The Advance HR Team has been pivotal in the development of our Core Values Charter, our commitment towards the training and development of our employees, open and regular communications with Stakeholders and a comprehensive benefits package. I’m delighted that this unique approach has been recognised by our peers. We’re keen to develop industry wide Best Practice and share our ideas with others.”
