ASC Business Club Seminar: Building Security Solutions

An introduction to the day will be given by ASC chairman Colin Braziel and Norman DeAndrade, business development manager for the south of England at CEM Systems (sponsors of the event).

The first presentation is from Dr George Redpath, CEM System’s director of engineering. The industry is now in a situation whereby Ethernet devices are no more expensive than devices wired over RS 485 and co-axial cable. Despite that fact, serial devices continue to outsell their Ethernet cousins. Dr Redpath will demonstrate the technologies necessary to deploy a full-scale Ethernet solution, at the same time trying to shed some light on the reasons that are holding back full deployment.

Just after 11.00 am, Norman DeAndrade offers an introduction to smart card technology, while 11.30 am sees Paul Sheeran (CEM Systems’ business development manager for the north of England) outline biometrics.

At noon, applications come into focus. There will be a series of Case Studies outlined that demonstrate leading-edge IP-based access control, IP video, smart cards and biometric applications including those at Manchester Airport, Barclays, the Singapore Supreme Court and Heathrow Terminal 5 (among others).

Post luncheon, ASC member Mike Bluestone is due to talk about his Good Practice Guide to Security Management, written on behalf of the British Institute of Facilities Management.

The event is free, but pre-booking is essential. Full details from info@securityconsultants.org.uk
