Ashes to ashes for ‘distraught’ Bowie

[

A warehouse fire in East London has left popular rock musicians, including legends The Rolling Stones and David Bowie, confounded after the loss of over GB pound 1million worth of irreplaceable and valuable memorabilia from the early stages of their careers.

Lost items include legal documents, pictures and promotional material belonging to David Bowie and The Rolling Stones, as well as items belonging to Sir Elton John, The Sex Pistols and Duran Duran.

The fire was at the Iron Mountain storage facility in Bow. The company provides record management and data backup services to over 100,000 customers throughout North America, Europe, Latin America and Asia.

A music industry source told ThePeople.co.uk that the managers of the artists are seeking compensation from Iron Mountain. The firm would not comment on the fire but said: “The security of our customers’ valuables is paramount.”
