The AXIS 211W can be connected to the network using a wireless IEEE 802.11g/b or wired Ethernet connection supporting Power over Ethernet. Axis claim this allows easy installation and relocation, making it the ideal camera for monitoring product campaigns in shops.
Anders Laurin, Executive Vice President of Axis Communications, said:
“AXIS 211W is ideal for security surveillance of locations such as retail stores, offices, hotels and university campuses, where its wireless network connection offers a flexible installation alternative. Including Axis’ superior image quality as well as the highest level of network security, AXIS 211W constitutes a unique offer for a demanding market that requires a high performance, adaptable video surveillance solution.”
Using a progressive scan sensor and advanced image processing, the 211W aims to provide superior image quality.
Axis say only one outlet is needed for the 211W, either power or network, and an outdoor antenna is available for mounting the camera where there is power but no network cable.
With its IPv6 support, Axis claim the 211W offers optimised security, efficiency and manageability. The camera’s security features include support for Enterprise and Personal Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA/WPA2) for wireless communication, as well as HTTPS encryption and IEEE 802.1X network access control for all connections to the network.
A two-way audio functionality is said to allow users to listen in on an area and communicate with visitors or intruders. The camera also provides a detection alarm at a configurable audio level.
Steve Gorski, Managing Director of the company’s UK operations, said:
“The AXIS 211W delivers a great deal of flexibility to end users, especially for locations where layouts change, or if security priorities change – such as the need to switch the camera to external monitoring. We think this camera will appeal to a wide range of customer groups.”
