This contract follows on from a number of other high profile project wins at other prominent entertainment venues such as the Southbank Centre and the Sage Gateshead.
As a venue, Sadler’s Wells is undoubtedly the UK’s leading dance house. The management team there is committed to producing, commissioning and presenting new works and to bringing the very best international and UK dance to London audiences.
Indeed, the theatre’s cutting-edge programme spans dance in all of its forms, from contemporary to flamenco, bollywood to ballet, salsa to street dance and tango to tap.
Located in Islington, north London, the current theatre is the sixth to have stood on the site since it was first built by Richard Sadler back in 1683.
The venue has played an illustrious role in the history of theatre ever since with The Royal Ballet, Birmingham Royal Ballet and English National Opera all having started at Sadler’s Wells.
Specifics of the contract
Axis Security is contracted to provide 24-hour security cover at the theatre, including the policing of public areas, monitoring the stage door, conducting general security patrols and offering Front of House assistance when it comes to the meeting and greeting of visitors.
Britannia Morton, the director of visitor services and estates at Sadler’s Wells, commented that security provision forms an integral component of the building’s infrastructure.
“Axis Security plays an essential role in our safety and security processes,” stated Morton, “helping to keep the building operating smoothly and effectively. Its security officers also play an important role in offering a professional welcome to our artists and visitors alike.”
According to Morton, the theatre’s management team recognised that Axis Security was the security company best able to fulfil the requirements of the contract and the special environment in which it’s played out.
“Axis Security was our preferred supplier,” added Morton, “because the company demonstrated a sound understanding of our needs and was able to come up with flexible solutions to our problems.”
Jonathan Levine, group CEO of Axis Security, believes that this contract win is testament to the company’s excellent reputation for customer service.
“I’m extremely pleased that Axis Security has once again been given an opportunity to demonstrate its high standards of professionalism in customer-facing roles. I hope that this is a relationship that may long continue as our expertise in the entertainment venue sector grows.”
