Bosch acquires Extreme CCTV in deal worth a reported 63 million Euros

Extreme CCTV is a technology leader and supplier of active infrared illuminators, integrated day/night cameras with active illumination and hardened imaging products for use in extreme environments. Its product range also includes systems for vehicle licence plate recognition and capture.

In 2007, Extreme and its 130 associates worldwide generated sales of approximately 43 million Canadian dollars (roughly 29 million Euros). Its three well-known brands – Extreme, Forward Vision and Derwent – are managed from locations in Burnaby, Canada, in Newcastle, Church Crookham and Barbados.

The Bosch Group is a leading global supplier of technology and services. In the areas of automotive and industrial technology, consumer goods and building technology, some 272,000 associates generated sales of 46.1 billion Euros during 2007.

The Bosch Group comprises Robert Bosch GmbH and its (roughly) 300 subsidiary and regional companies operating from over 50 countries. This worldwide development, manufacturing and sales network is the foundation for further growth.

Bosch spends more than three billion Euros each year on research and development and, in 2006, applied for over 3,000 patents worldwide. The company was set up in Stuttgart in 1886 by Robert Bosch (1861-1942) as a “workshop for precision mechanics and electrical engineering.”

Bosch Security Systems’ existing product portfolio consists of CCTV systems (including state-of-the-art IP-based solutions, access control systems, intrusion detection and control, fire alarm systems, security management systems, Public Address/voice evacuation systems, conferencing systems, paging and personal security systems and social alarm systems (primarily for the elderly and disabled).
