Brewer confirmed as Firebuy CEO

Brewer has been the interim CEO of Firebuy since its inception in March 2006 and was responsible for the initial work on the national procurement strategy that led to its creation.

His salary will be circa GB pound 100,000.

It is hoped that Firebuy will be able to make cost savings through buying in bulk and eliminating procurement duplication of fire-specific equipment by individual Fire and Rescue Authorities (FRAs).

It also aims to further standardization and interoperability between different fire authorities and work with suppliers to ensure that the goods and services they provide meet the needs of the FRS.

Before his appointment Brewer was head of procurement for the London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority (LFEPA) responsible for a purchasing budget of over GB pound 20 million. He was responsible for successfully project managing and implementing the authority’s public finance initiative vehicles and equipment project which went live in 2001.

He is also a member of both the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply.
