BSIA Briefing: Sharing Best Practice in CiT

The conference – which ran from 3-4 April – provided insights on Cash-in-Transit crime from a variety of different perspectives, playing host to speakers from the Home Office, the Association of Chief Police Officers, the West Mercia Constabulary, Operation SaferCash and the BSIA. There were also presentations given by practitioners from the retail and Cash-in-Transit sectors.

At the top of the anti-crime agenda

Speaking about the event David Dickinson – chief executive of the BSIA – commented: “It’s imperative that Cash-in-Transit crime remains at the top of the agenda for all Stakeholders able to contribute to reducing the number of attacks against couriers. The BSIA is dedicated to continuing its efforts to reduce Cash-in-Transit crime, and we’re grateful for the sustained support of police forces up and down the country.”

Detective constable Colin Davies of the West Mercia Constabulary added: “This annual event amply demonstrates the effective relationship between the industry and the police, and our determination to crack down on criminality. These types of crimes aren’t victimless. Often, the robberies will involve violence against Cash-in-Transit couriers who are just doing their job.”
