The BSIA said it launched the user guide because of the increasing use of IP in security applications like CCTV and access control.
Providing basic guidance on what IP is and how it can be used effectively in a security system, the guide is available through the association’s website.
“The BSIA user guide provides further independent advice on the uses of IP and therefore allows the user to determine whether IP is an appropriate security solution for them,” said Alex Carmichael, the BSIA’s technical director.
The guide also covers considerations like infrastructure and internet service providers, the capabilities of IP in security applications and how an IP network can be integrated into existing security solutions.
