Regency Casino in Thessaloniki, Greece, decided to upgrade its CCTV control system as part of a continuous technical revision programme. With 900 slot machines and 38 eight poker tables to protect, casino bosses were keen to maximise the efficiency of the existing camera network without making it too expensive to run.
Synectics’ SynergyPro control software was specified for the project by Signal Electronics, who were chosen to install the new control solution. Synectics claim their software creates ‘an optimum workstation’ environment for control room staff.
Vasilios Harbilas of Signal Electronics said:
“The simplicity of the powerful Synectics SynergyPro CCTV control software makes it the ideal solution for gaming environments; where fast, intuitive navigation of large numbers of cameras and recording equipment is essential to the successful operation of a casino’s day-to-day business, as CCTV without effective control is useless.”
Synectics say cameras in the casino can now be controlled by their multi-functional joystick controller. CCTV operators are said to be able to use a combination of side-mounted ‘function’ buttons and the joystick itself to select camera-to-monitor displays and DVR playback control. These features aim to provide operators with simple, seamless integration between camera and playback control functionality.
Although the SynergyPro software is meant to be compatible with equipment from most manufacturers, Signal Electronics specified a Synectics Tesseract SLC 512×48 switching matrix to make sure it works reliably.
To help archive the visual information supplied from the extensive camera network, Signal supplied the casino with Synectics’ MDRS technology, which aims to provide a scaleable and flexible recording solution. Synectics say it allows casino staff to retrieve visual data quickly and easily, helping to resolve disputed table wins rapidly.
Following the project in Thessaloniki, a second casino in the greater Athens region also installed SynergyPro software.
