CCTV upgraded to cut stadium violence

The Ganz system, which was commissioned by the Cyprus Sports Organisation, has already helped the Antonis Papadopoulos stadium achieve UEFA’s approval for hosting European fixtures.

Installed by Wave Electronics, it uses a wide range of Ganz equipment. Internal and external domes, DVRs and matrix and telemetry controllers are all linked to a new control room that allows operators and police to track trouble-makers.

Ganz’s ZC-PT indoor and outdoor functional dome cameras, which offer over 250 preset positions, are being used to monitor activity in the stadium’s stands, turnstile areas and car parks.

Three ZR-DHC1630NP 16-channel, PC-based DVRs have also been installed as part of the upgrade and the stadium’s control room has been equipped with a ZP-TX/RX series matrix unit for switching and control of up to 48 cameras. Operators can view images from around the stadium using ZM-L219P, 19-inch professional colour TFT LCD monitors.

CCTV sales manager at Ganz, John Downie, said the upgrade was necessary because the old system was outdated and not properly supported.

“Wave Electronics successfully won a tendered contract based on the strength of our equipment and having equipped this stadium with a ‘future-proof’ CCTV system we’re now looking forward to announcing fresh new sporting-related work in the near future.”
