Certification desirable but not essential for BFC

[

At the AGM and dinner of The British Fire Consortium held in Cardiff in October its new chairman, Colin Rhodes said: “We will continue to encourage our members to gain ISO 9000 and BAFE registration or other third party accreditation, but it will not be a mandatory requirement of membership.”

The British Fire Consortium celebrated its 25th birthday at the dinner and in addition members used the occasion to bid farewell to Pat Pearl, who has been chairman of the BFC for the last 20 years.

They also welcomed the consortium’s new chairman, Colin Rhodes whose company, Castle Fire, installs and maintains a range of fire safety systems including smoke and ventilation systems. He told members: “I’m looking forward to building on the achievements of the Consortium to date, helping to raise standards in the industry generally, as well as helping our members to raise standards within their own businesses.” He also commented that: “The Consortium is unique in that it gives as much of a voice to smaller companies, even one man companies, as well as the larger operations.”
