Chubb engineer wins Apprentice of the Year

Atherton, who is now installing new security systems in the role of a fully-qualified engineer, won the award for his personal and professional support for colleagues new to the Norwich branch. This included help with understanding new business processes and reporting, as well as lending his technical skills to carry out joint visits for clients to service and maintain their security equipment.

Richard is described by training manager David Millett as “a valued member” of the Chubb team. “It’s a tremendous achievement for a Chubb Security apprentice to win the award, and for Richard as an individual,” commented Millett. “This accolade is thoroughly deserved.”

Quality of service and professionalism

The BSIA Awards recognise excellence, quality of service and professionalism among apprentice installers within the security industry. They are open to those involved in alarm, access control or CCTV installation for security companies with certification from a UKAS accredited certification body. The programme is designed for third year and outstanding second year apprentices, and candidates can also be nominated by the college where they are studying.

Outside of work, Richard is also a special constable – further proof, according to Millett, of his total commitment and dedication to professionalism, training and helping others:

“Richard goes well beyond the call of duty to help his colleagues,” concluded Millett. “He’s a credit to himself, the company and this industry.”
