E-security firm expands with UK office

OpenTrust, which already has bases in Brussels and Paris, will be targeting multi-national firms from its new office in Reading, Berkshire.

Having formed a partnership with local public key infrastructure (PKI) specialist Trustis, the company hopes to help organisations protect their data and online transactions with encryption, digital signatures and smart card management.

David Terry, who was brought in as managing director of OpenTrust UK, said that the while cost and complexity of PKI and encryption security had put many companies off in the past, things are beginning to change.

“Successful government and corporate deployments, as well as the increased awareness of security threats, have lead to a growing acceptance of PKI and smart card solutions,” he said.

“By working with Trustis and using their expertise and industry knowledge, we can take advantage of this and at the same time guard enterprises against fraud, information mismanagement and identity theft.”

OpenTrust’s move into the UK forms part of a larger expansion strategy that was announced in July. Since then, the company has changed its name from IdealX, opened its office in Brussels and joined the European Software Association.
