Farley joins Capita Symonds

Farley will be leading the company’s Critical National Infrastructure Security Consultancy Services offering with an initial emphasis on the water industry.

Farley, who will be based in the East Grinstead office, has extensive experience of the management of security within the water industry, having been head of security for Thames Water Utilities Limited as well as being involved in the development of industry-wide security standards.

As a result of his insight into the operational issues that affect the management of security within the water industry, Farley has provided consultancy services to a number of other UK water companies, including Scottish Water, United Utilities, Northumbrian, Folkstone and Dover, Cambridge, and Kent.

His specific skills include the performance of statutory audits and the risk assessment of operational sites, including the specification of enhanced security measures appropriate to Designated Site status and the meeting of requirements stipulated by CPNI (part of MI5) Advice Notes.

Andrew Kennedy, Capita Symonds associate director of security, said: “This is a key appointment for the security team. Alan’s knowledge of, and profile within, the water industry further equips us to make serious inroads into the protection of Critical National Infrastructure marketplace.”
