The seminar programme for next month’s info4fire Learning Zone at IFSEC International 2012 will be designed to help professionals understand more about the increasing crossover between the security and fire industries.
With a rising number of installers and specifiers looking to provide an integrated service for their customers, it is important that installers are up to speed with a number of industry trends and legislative changes.
One of the speakers – general manager of the FIA, Margin Duggan – said, “Many security companies get involved in installing fire protection systems, however they need to know what their liability is and how to do it right. Fire is not the same as security!
“Fire protection is all about escaping a building and intruder protection is all about ensuring the doors stay locked!”
On 14-17 May, the info4fire.com learning zone will cover a range of topics to ensure attendees are aware of the latest standards, products and solutions available to both the security and fire markets.
Education sessions will include:
- The Futures on fire: Move into fire protection – Mr Martin Duggan, General Manager, FIA, will discuss the crossovers between fire and security and offer practical advice for anyone wanting to make the move.
- Integrating fire detection into building management systems – Ms Eva Kosanovic, Senior Product Manager, Apollo Fire Detectors, will discuss the challenges of integrating fire detection with other building management systems, and how successful integration can be achieved.
- EN54 part 13 – Compatibility and interoperability in fire alarm systems – Mr David Wilson, Engineering Manager will present a must attend session on EN54 part 13, explaining what it is, and why it should be used.
