US based fire safety solutions company Fike has acquired axonX LLC, a developer of the SigniFire brand of video smoke and flame detection technology.
SigniFire combines CCTV cameras with image analysis, artificial intelligence and signal processing technologies to create fire detection systems. The system can detect smoke, flame, and motion, providing a range of criteria for different premises and risks.
The technology is designed to NFPA 72 as an authorised smoke and flame initiating device, and the Signifire IP camera is Factory Mutual approved. Used in applications where conventional smoke detection may not be practical or suitable, installations include power plants, industrial facilities, heritage properties, warehouses and tunnels.
“The acquisition of axonX and this VID technology demonstrates Fike’s ongoing commitment to innovation and performance in fire detection and alarm systems,” said Max Jewell, president and CEO of Fike. “We believe video detection can and should be used in a variety of applications to not only provide early detection for fire, but to also provide real time monitoring. AxonX technology is proven to be fast and reliable, and will certainly enhance Fike’s product offering.”
Meanwhile at International Firex in the UK this week, Fike Protection Systems presented its ‘Golden Pilot’ top distributor award to G8 Fire Solutions. Pictured is Kevin Cooper, managing director of G8, receiving the award from Max Jewell, president of Fike Corporation.
