With its exhibition and education & technology-focused programme, the organisers of IIPSEC 2008 boast that it will be “the most time-efficient way to gain a valuable insight into important developments within the marketplace”.
Unlock the potential
IIPSEC will cover ‘Next Generation’ networkable solutions and the three day event is designed to unlock the true potential of IP technology through a showcase of products and educational programme which includes free entry ‘break-out’ sessions.
Technical seminars
These paid-for sessions are delivered by leading experts and specialist in their field and presentations cover a range of technology areas. Each seminar is divided into four sections providing a diverse range of technology issues and ‘how to’ advice.
Jan 29: Network video masterclass (am) & Unlocking the full potential of mega pixel technology (pm);
Jan 30: Network audio applications (am) & Networked integrated solutions (pm);
Jan 31: Deploying wireless and mobile solutions (am) & The changing landscape of IP alarms and visual verification (pm).
Break out sessions
New to the event are these free entry sessions which will take “an in depth look at some important issues within the market”. The sessions will range from 30 minutes to two hours and will address such issues as: The Next Generation Internet; Security Issues; IP Camera Lighting; Analytics; Changes in Visual Verification and IP Coaxial Transmission.
Jan 29: IPv6 – The new Internet and what it will mean to you (am) & Actionable intelligence for an optimised enterprise and a safer world (pm);
Jan 30: How secure is your IP security? (am) & BSIA – Internet Protocol as an essential element of BS8418 (pm);
Jan 31: Lights, camera, action: Lighting for IP (am) & Implementing IP cameras into existing coax networks (pm)
IP Acton LIVE
These are free-entry end user case study presentations designed to demonstrate how the use of IP based technology can provide a return on investment and also operating benefits. Presentations will cover the “ups and downs of actual installations”, the issues surrounding implementation and deployment.
Jan 29: IP solutions in retail (am) & IP solutions in transportation (pm);
Jan 30: IP solutions in industry (am) & IP solutions in health and education (pm)
Jan 31: IP solutions in government (am) & IP solutions in banking and finance (pm)

Industry ‘firsts’ on show
CEM Systems, a brand of Tyco International, will be showcasing its latest IP access control products – a range of industry “firsts” – including the CEM S610e multi-technology IP card reader and the DIU 220 Power over Ethernet Door Interface Unit which it describes as “revolutionary”.
Philip Verner, sales and marketing manager, said the high profile launch at IIPSEC 2008 positioned CEM to be “the first to reliably offer power over ethernet access control to the industry”.
The S610 multi-technology card reader is available in both S610s for on-board serial connectivity and S610e for on-board IP connectivity. It features a ‘new look’ enclosure suitable for the architectural designs of modern office buildings.
The reader has the ability to support a range of card technologies including 125 KHz Proximity, 13.56 MHz MiFare and PicoPass technology and is also available as a multi-technology option.
This enables their customers to easily migrate from traditional Proximity to MiFare smart card technology.
The CEM DIU 220 Power over Ethernet Door Interface Unit offers 1.6 Amps to power a complete door set (consisting of a controller, two 650mA Maglocks, door holder, sounder and strobe) using one CAT5/6 Ethernet cable.
Eliminating the need for mains power at the door the DIU 220 can be installed by security installers and It network integrators without an electrician, offering clients the benefit of a complete IP solution at a low cost.
Camera culture
New product introductions from JVC Professional Europe include: the VR-N1600E 16-channel network video recorder with embedded Milestone software; day and night dual stream VN-V26U and VN-V25U IP box cameras; a 36x zoom PTZ IP day and night dome camera (the VN-V686U) designed for internal applications; an external version of the PTZ VN-V686WPU IP dome camera and free-to-download VN-RS800U software designed for the recording and management of eight JVC network cameras and an encoder.
Help over IP
Complus Teltronic Ltd is bringing Intercom over Internet Protocol to IIPSEC 2008. With the advances in IP technology, visitors this year will be able to see IP ready intercom units for plug and play solutions.
Greg Gregoriou, Complus Teltronic’s sales and marketing director will be speaking at the Networked Audio Applications seminar on Wednesday January 30 between 10.30 and 12.30 about IP as a versatile and expandable medium for transmission of integrated audio solutions.
New, working IP solutions will be exhibited on the stand; featuring integral IP intercom products, the new access control intercom module and the IP Help Point.
These can be used across a variety of applications including town centres, shopping centres, train station platforms and car parks and can be fully integrated over IP back to a designated control room.
Complus Teltronic Ltd provides intercom solutions for many industry sectors.
These include airports, hospitals, prisons, car parks, town centres, lifts, heavy industry and transport applications.
The technology covers communications, access control, public address, disabled toilets & evacuation intercoms, environmental control and integration to third party devices such as building management systems, CCTV, alarms and detectors.
Powerful encoder
Cieffe designs and manufactures intelligent DVRs-NVRs, encoders/decoders and IP cameras as well as providing compression,.transmission and analysis algorithms ‘at the highest levels’.
On display will be the Nettuno Quattro, a network encoder with neural motion detector, capable of encoding video and audio from up to four analogue video/audio sources in real time with H.264 algorithm. Each channel can be configured with a different encoder.
Nettuno can be powered through an Ethernet port (PoE compliant) and Quattro can manage motion tracking and behaviour analysis thanks to Cieffe algorithm Deepath2, which correlates events by time, space, and other parameters.
Among the line-up
Other companies exhibiting include Axis Communications, CBC (Europe), BC Technology, Cieffe, Dedicated Micros, CCTV Center, Flir Systems, Group 4 Technology, Honeywell Security, Mayflex, Mobotix and Risco Group.
