G4S lands airport security contract

“We are very proud to be awarded this contract, but are also aware of the significant responsibility that lies ahead,” said Vidar Berg, country manager for G4S in Norway.

The contract was confirmed by OSL on Thursday during a board meeting in Avinor and the announcement follows reports last week of a strong start to the year by Crawley-based G4S.

“We are very pleased with our decision of choosing G4S as our new supplier of security at OSL,” said managing director at Oslo Airport, Nic Nilsen.

“The decision is based on an overall evaluation of quality and price. We are also very delighted that all employees in Adecco, which today holds the contract, will be offered a job in the new company.”

Berg said he was proud that G4S was awarded the contract in the face of strong competition.

“I feel confident that we will take good care of the interests of OSL and the security of the passengers in the best way possible,” he said.

The contract begins in March 2008 and after its initial three year term there will be an option to extend it by a further two years.
