Bosch Security Systems has enhanced its Praesideo PA and emergency sound system with a remote call station and call station interface that uses standard CAT-5 (Category 5) network cabling.

This extends its reach and allows remote stations to be located up to one kilometre away from the controller, making it suitable for voice evacuation in larger buildings. It also simplifies installation and provides greater flexibility in system design, while not adding to the system bus length.

Features of the remote station include fail-safe operation, high-quality digital audio, and configuration via the Praesideo network controller through a web browser interface. It can be powered either by the call station interface or from a local power supply if a large number of keypads are to be used at long distance, and can be extended with up to 16 keypads, each with eight configurable keys.

The call station interface is designed to accept digital audio and control data via CAT-5 cabling direct to the remote station, and to connect to the Praesideo’s optical fibre network. Both the remote station and interface are fully supervised and comply with IEC60849, the European standard for voice alarm systems.
