Halving wires makes alarm sense

Having the number of wires needed to install detectors, manual call points and sounders is the aim of Apollo’s AlarmSense, distributed by ADI-Gardiner.

Halving the number of wires needed to install detectors, manual call points and sounders is the aim of Apollo’s AlarmSense, distributed by ADI-Gardiner.

Designed for small to medium sized buildings, AlarmSense enables one pair of supply wires to be used during installation, instead of the traditional two, and is particularly suited for houses of multiple occupancy.

The local alarm facility means that residents can identify false alarms, such as those caused by burnt toast, and allows for the smoke to be cleared before raising a general alarm.

“We designed AlarmSense with installers in mind, making products easier and quicker to install, while also reducing wiring costs,” commented Paul Smith, head of marketing at Apollo. “Furthermore, all AlarmSense products comply with the legal requirements and codes of practice, including BS 5839 Part 6, the UK Code of Practice for the design, installation and maintenance of fire detection and fire alarm systems in dwellings.”

The product also features head removal monitoring, which informs the control panel if tampering occurs.
