JVC goes IP

JVC has launched a number of new IP products. Its new VN-C20U camera with PoE capabilities can be simply connected using a single LAN cable or 24vAC power supply to an Ethernet network, which JVC says makes it perfect for 24/7 monitoring – especially as it includes an “Easy Day/Night” function. The VN-C215 series of IP fixed dome are the first to be introduced to the market by JVC, with the C215V4U designed for internal installations and the C215VP4U vandal resistant model for demanding applications and outdoor installation.

The VR-N9000U is a nine-channel network video recorder that is able to automatically recognise and configure itself to operate with any JVC brand IP camera, up to four analogue cameras or a network encoder, allowing for quick and easy installation, with no PC specification or configuration needed.

Mini models

Sony has expanded its range of monitoring cameras with the introduction of two mini-dome IP models. The SNC-DF50P (Bench Tested on page 24) and SNC-DF80P IP cameras have been designed to deliver more effective day and night security and surveillance monitoring thanks to their efficient and intelligent processing method, called ‘intelligent video analysis’.

The SNC-DF50P and SNC-DF80P network mini-dome cameras feature built-in intelligent camera functions, such as Intelligent Motion Detection and Intelligent Object Detection, which can determine what images should be recorded or when an alarm should be triggered.

With in-camera processing, DEPA (Enhanced Processing Architecture) reduces network traffic, bandwidth requirements and storage requirements for IT managers, Sony says. The cameras also incorporate dynamic-frame integration to optimise the resolution for both stationary and moving subjects simultaneously.

Encoder launch

Dedicated Micros has launched a new single channel DV-IP Encoder to enable the connection of additional analogue cameras over the network to a NetVu Connected CCTV solution.

The company believes that the versatility built-in to its new DV-IP Encoder – which is easily managed with NetVu ObserVer video management software – greatly expands the scope for CCTV solutions to be upgraded through the rapid deployment of cameras, without the need to completely replace existing elements of the system.

For ease of installation, the DV-IP Encoder can be mounted discretely either horizontally or vertically.

Dedicated Micros has also made IP streaming and recording available as a standard feature for its NetVu Connected DVRs, including the DV-IP ATM, DV-IP Server, BX2, DS2 and DS Server, and as a free upgrade for many models.

On the buses

Axis Communications has introduced what it claims is the first network camera designed for use in buses and rail vehicles. The Axis 209FD-R network camera is a palm-sized, rugged unit that can resist vibrations and high humidity in mass transit vehicles, and Axis says it provides crisp digital video over an IP network.

Bus operator Stockholm Transport has ordered the cameras for its entire fleet of 2,100 buses. It is installing between five and six on each bus during this year.

Only 4cm high, it fits in areas even with restricted headroom. The 209FD-R uses Power over Ethernet, making installation quick and easy, and delivers up to 30fps in Motion JPEG or MPEG-4 compression standards.

Camera analysis

Ioimage has released two IP cameras – the xptz100dn, which is a PTZ camera with autonomous tracking capabilities; and the mmp100dn, a 3-megapixel intelligent camera with picture-in-picture capabilities for synchronised analytics visualisation.

The xptz100dn is an all-weather day/night camera with built-in analytics that delivers cost-effective security automation over wide areas, ioimage says. It can automatically detect and track intruders, vehicles and other threats, and is suitable for government, public and commercial organisations.

The mmp100dn features wide area coverage, day/night capabilities, and PTZ functionality. The picture-in-picture capability provides a simultaneous close-up of tracked objects while maintaining a full field of view.

Crack the codec

Telindus Surveillance Solutions has developed a new generation Centauri, its high density video codec. It is capable of connecting up to 112 analogue devices, with the architecture having the flexibility to produce small form-factor variants to suit any project requirements.

Telindus says “the forward thinking hardware design ensures Centauri can fully integrate with technologies such as image analysis, whilst maintaining the resiliency and redundancy features of the original CellStack Centauri”.

Contact the management

Vigilant Technology has launched an advanced version of its NetView IP Control Center. This is an IP-based video management software system that provides a ‘virtual’ matrix, event handling and video decoding capabilities.

It is a replacement for legacy analogue matrices, and as a software-based application it enables solutions to be designed with unlimited monitor displays via nodal PCs on a network and offers control via a traditional CCTV keyboard or Vigilant’s ‘run-time’ menu.

Authorised personnel can track, view, map and identify potential threats immediately over multiple monitors with information generated from an unlimited number of cameras.

Controlling doors

TAC has launched the Intelli-M PoE Integrated IP Door Controller. This provides access control and alarm services with the key benefit of being powered through an Ethernet cable.

It small size and simple mounting positions makes it easy to install, while its ability to run autonomously reduces the risk of the controller being affected by wider system or component failure. It also integrates with TAC’s existing range of network video recorders.

Intelli-M is accompanied by Supervisor Plus software – a fully scaleable management tool, suitable for small and large installations alike.

Staggering NVR

Panasonic has released the WJ-ND200 network video recorder, which it says is “staggeringly” small – 270mm in width – without compromising on features or reliability.

It is capable of monitoring up to 16 cameras from up to four simultaneous clients, and is suited to high quality surveillance in small to medium sized shops and offices. It is both MPEG-4 and JPEG compatible and enables versatile recording functions including multi-recording, scheduled recording, emergency recording, external timer recording and event recording.

Going Pro

ProSYS.freeCom from Risco is in an integrated security system which the company says is simple to install yet has the flexibility and comprehensive set of features to suit any application.

It includes a dual-path communication solution with integrated IP and GPRS communication from within the main box. It is modular and expandable, so the installer can supply a basic intruder system and add modules and functionality, including access control, voice module or wireless, as the customer needs and budget evolves.
