The Hospice of St Francis in Berkhamstead, Hertfordshire has taken advantage of its move to a new, purpose-built premises by putting a new fire safety management plan into action.
In conjunction with Chubb Fire, the hospice has installed new equipment and have carried out extensive training for 20 staff and volunteers. A fire detection and alarm system, along with portable fire extinguishers, have been installed, while Chubb Fire has also provided training materials and videos to help with training.
“As a result of the combined efforts of the building design team and the work the hospice has carried out with Chubb Fire and the local fire brigade, we have been independently assessed and classified as ‘low risk’, so the change has been dramatic,” said Alison Briant, the nurse leading the hospice’s fire safety management team.
