Hot and cyrogenic insulation systems

Pittsburgh Corning has produced a new industrial insulation guide on its hot and cryogenic cellular glass insulation systems.

Pittsburgh Corning has produced a new industrial insulation guide on its hot and cryogenic cellular glass insulation systems.

The latest range of prefabricated products is covered, including valve boxes, T-pieces, cones, and vessel heads, all of which simplify and speed up site installation, and which are manufactured on a bespoke basis to customers’ exact requirements. This range has been expanded in line with the industry move towards prefabricated elements.

Two new installation systems have been introduced. Factory pre-coated Foamglas with polymer enables more rapid installation, while Foamglas Stratafab allows high temperature single-layer installations that eliminate the use of permeable fibrous material.

Foamglas has physical properties suitable for insulation of piping and equipment, both above and below ground, indoors or outdoors, and at process temperatures from -268degreesC to +480degreesC. Manufactured from 100% pure glass (of which 66% is post-consumer recycled waste), it contains no CFCs, HCFCs, HFAs or Pentane. It is non-combustible (Euroclass A1), non-toxic, and emits no toxic fumes or gases in the event of a fire, says the company, as well as being impervious to moisture.
