During the course of the next few days, we’ll be keeping an eye on what we are plied with as we meet innumerable manufacturers and security-related firms.
So far – and bear in mind we’re only a few hours into this wonderful/tortuous week – there is a clear leader, for me at least. Despite the oversized keyring proffered by hi-tech American firm Stretch Inc, AMS Australia kindly provided not only a kangaroo lapel stick-pin (that’s a lapel pin shaped like a kangaroo, not a pin to stick into a kangaroo, which would be quite mean), but also a drinks coaster, a boomerang keyring, a bag, and a cube thing.
On top of all this, AMS’s Trevor and Cheryl Leisk also gave me a ‘Caramello Koala’ – a caramel-filled koala-shaped chocolate which was a favourite of mine as a youngster growing up on the mean streets of Perth, Western Australia. Is that slightly biased? Possibly. But I can only furnish you with the truth, and the truth thus far is that AMS are in the lead on the ‘giving free stuff to journalists’ front.
Game on.
