In brief: February 2008

– BMW Group has installed a fire alarm system provided by Bosch Security Systems in its world headquarters in Munich. More than 500 Bosch smoke detectors were installed.

– Alfred McAlpine has installed nine 930 and 940 automatic sliding door systems from FAAC (UK) as replacements in the international arrivals, check-in and domestic UK arrivals halls at Edinburgh Airport.

– Abloy door operators have been installed by Vador Security Systems at George House in York, the office and meeting centre base for The Children’s Society’s PACT project. The operators were fitted to the main external door, offices, meeting room and kitchen doors.

– Highadmit Projects Ltd has installed the Rafiki Quadnet Intelligent Addressable fire detection system at the new Neath Port Talbot Council premises at Baglan Energy Park in South Wales.

– SigNet’s new disabled refuge system, SigTel Compact, has been installed by Tonetec at the Best Building at Chester University, as part of an GB pound 800,000 redevelopment. It features an eight-line stainless steel flush-mounted master control unit, connected by two-core enhanced fire rated cable to a remote outstation.

– Thinking Space Systems has designed and supplied cabinets, consoles, and special enclosures for projection units at Bournemouth Borough Council’s CCTV control room, as part of a recent upgrade.

– GeoVision’s LPR/ANPR solution has been installed in Taiwan to monitor scooters and lightweight motorbikes, in order to prevent escalating air pollution and improve government and transportation regulatory efficiency.

– 12 Arthur Street, a multi-tenant building in London, has used First Security to install Fastlane plus turnstiles from Integrated Design. The building is home to many prestige companies, including Prudential and Vanquis Bank.

– Chase Farms in Walkerville, Michigan, USA, has installed Milestone XProtect Enterprise IP video software to manage over 60 Axis cameras. Chase Farms is a leader in fruit and vegetable production.

– NICE Systems has received a follow-on order from the Ministry of Railway in China for its advanced video IP solution. It will be used to enhance the safety and security of up to 32 million passengers in 2008, travelling on the Beijing-Tianjin inter-city passenger line.

– TAG Company Ltd has entered into an agreement with Morrisons Supermarkets to extend its successful EAS programme to a further 240 locations in its UK estate. The programme will roll out over the next 18 months, following more than 50 successful installs in 2007.
