While traditional sectors, such as intrusion detection equipment, continue to offer high sales volumes, their growing maturity will force companies to focus on video and services markets to stabilise overall revenues and growth rates.
Companies looking for growth also need to explore new regions, such as eastern Europe, new product offerings, such as digital recording, and the untapped residential markets.
Falling prices as a result of competition from non-EU manufacturers are another reason for the shift in the market.

- New security threats and rising costs are the two main factors driving the convergence of traditional and information security functions in global companies, according to a separate study.
The results of the study, “Convergence of enterprise organisations”, indicate that convergence is a trend that impacts not just on the security function of organisations, but on other departments and indeed businesses as a whole.
