International Firex numbers defy recession

[

The fire industry appears to be showing signs of resilience – at least as far as the numbers from International Firex 2009 are concerned. Audited figures released by the show’s organisers show that more that 14,574 people attended the event, an increase of 4% compared to 2007.

The exhibition showcased product and systems from more than 120 fire protection manufacturers and distributors, as well as having a record number of special features such as the Fire Industry Association seminar theatre, the Red Book Pavilion and the Fire Protection Association’s advice and education sessions.

James Blue, director of fire and security at UBM Live, organisers of the exhibition and publishers of FSE, said: “Given the current economic circumstances, it was more important than ever to produce an event which offered industry professionals everything they needed under one roof; from informative seminars detailing the latest industry developments to a world-class exhibition. We are delighted to have achieved this which is reflected in the fantastic figures and extremely positive feedback from both visitors and exhibitors.”

International Firex 2011 will take place from 16-19 May at the NEC Birmingham and will be co-located with Fire & Rescue, security event IFSEC, Safety & Health Expo and The Facilities Show.
