The web area provides information on the new standards, including a number of guidance documents. These comprise a factsheet giving basic information for end users on the changes and various interpretation documents that clarify the new standards for installers and manufacturers.
“The introduction of European Standards for intruder alarms has been a key development for the intruder alarm sector this year,” said Kay Wright, BSIA media manager. “Placing these documents together in one area on the BSIA website means that we have created a one-stop shop for information on the new standards, which will hopefully prove to be an invaluable tool for the intruder alarm sector and its customers.”
Meanwhile, Gardiner Security and Tavcom Training are organising a series of one-day courses across the UK on the intruder alarm standards. The courses cover everything from methods of installation to risk assessment, and include practical guidance. Formal certification and accreditation will be available to those who successfully complete the assessment process.
