ISS Facility Services Healthcare will deliver soft facility management services to the three London Trusts and the Institute of Cancer Research that comprise the Fulham Road Collaborative under a new contract worth GB pound 100 million.
The Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, Royal Brompton & Harefield NHS Foundation Trust and the Institute of Cancer Research worked together on a competitive tender process for the new contract.
Simon Cox, the managing director of ISS Facility Services Healthcare, Education and Defence, said: “These are four highly successful organisations with global reputations for excellence. Their approach really challenged us to deliver more for less. We will work very closely with the Collaborative to achieve its cost efficiency targets while maintaining the highest standards of patient care.”
More than 700 ISS staff will deliver a wide range of soft FM services including security, cleaning, catering, reception, waste management, pest control, laundry and linen, portering and car park management.
The specific services provided by ISS will differ in each organisation within the Collaborative.
Comments from the partners
Therese Davis, chief nurse and director of patient experience and flow at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, explained: “We are delighted to continue to work in partnership with the ISS staff who form an important part of the Chelsea and Westminster team. The new contract will result in significant cost and efficiency savings while maintaining the quality of service that patients expect when they come to our hospital.”
David Probert, chief operating officer for The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, added: “This project is a great example of how healthcare organisations can work together to make the best use of resources while maintaining excellent standards of care for patients.”
Steve Moore – head of estates and facilities at Royal Brompton & Harefield NHS Foundation Trust – also spoke about the new deal.
“Ensuring a first class environment for our patients is absolutely vital when delivering specialist care,” asserted Moore. “We feel sure that this collaboration will deliver such an environment.”
Chris Ash, the director of healthcare for ISS Facility Services Healthcare, outlined: “ISS has worked with each of these organisations for between seven and 20 years. Over time, it became increasingly apparent that we share a common philosophy of putting the patient at the heart of everything we do.”
He continued: “This procurement then further challenged potential partners to find innovations that also helped the organisations to maximise the value of their expenditure. We are genuinely delighted to continue our partnership with each of the organisations, and look forward to playing our part in their continued success.”
