“Faced with the often unnecessarily complex nature of some video security and surveillance products we are the first to applaud simplicity, but there is a point when too much automation can be a drawback. The SX811 proves the point: LG’s clear aim to simplify installation and operation is largely successful and the camera can be relied upon to get on with the job in undemanding conditions. However, it does lack some basic picture adjustments that would make it easier to integrate with external devices. We’re also a little confused by the day/night function, which seems to imply the camera is more adept than it actually is in low light. In practice the picture gets grainy and noisy quite quickly as light levels fall and switching to black and white doesn’t really do much to improve matters. Nevertheless, in well-lit situations it performs well enough, installation couldn’t be much simpler, and it looks as though it will last the course.”
