The company was established in a small workshop in Zurich in 1862, producing safes. Today, around 7,500 employees in more than 60 countries generate annual sales of around one billion Swiss francs.
Kaba is presenting its new mechatronic product range, Kaba evolo, a standalone electronic access control solution. Connectivity is Mifare and Legic compatible.
Visitors to the stand also have the opportunity to use the new TouchGo, which has not yet launched in the UK. This uses a new technology developed by Kaba called RCID, or resistive capacitive identification.
This is based on the use of the body’s natural electrostatic charge. A user simply touches the door handle to activate the lock. A transponder can be kept in a pocket or on a belt.
In addition, the new Kaba ARIOS concept “closes a loophole in RFID applications”, according to Kaba. The RFID security mechanism is based on a data key which can, in some systems, be easily shared or discovered by the wrong person without the user’s knowledge. Kaba ARIOS helps users to keep their data key completely secure.
