The ODA said that the event had been one of the most popular information events it had run, and was so oversubscribed that a second event, which was also full, was announced for the 31st October.
The ODA has a policy that media are not allowed to attend any of its industry information events, regardless of sector.
According to the ODA spokesperson, participants for the two events were chosen on a first come, first served basis.
The ODA stressed that non-attendance at either event would not hurt a company’s chances in the contract application process. All contracts will be advertised via its website, and those companies which have signed up for its ‘e-tendering alerts’ will receive emails when contracts become available.
Apparently, an email containing details about the topics discussed at the two meetings will be sent to everyone who emailed the organisers before the 17th October deadline. No further details about when this email would be sent, or what information would be contained in it, are currently available.
General information about the procurement process can be found at the London 2012 business centre web site here.
